The word “poke” may have originated from card hustlers who would use it as slang and cheat unsuspecting opponents. Later, the word was shortened to “poke” to confuse the unsuspecting players. While poker is a simple game, it still involves a high element of cheating. The main goal of the game is to win the most chips.
